ReLink Drain

Nephrostomy, crucial for renal care, carries a 5.5% catheter dislodgement risk.(1) Dislodgements pose serious patient safety issues, and in addition, may lead to complications such as emergency room visits and repeat hospitalizations. These occurrences also result in bed/bedside soiling and the risk of exposure to bodily fluids. Besides the significant patient safety concerns, these incidents can incur estimated costs of up to €10,000 per occurrence for replacement procedures, and additional nursing time. ReLink Drain minimises risks of catheter dislodgement. ReLink Drain is a two-part, double valve breakaway connector. When there is a strong pull on the nephrostomy drainage line, the two connector parts disconnect and the valves seal the system, thus preventing spillage. After separation, both ReLink Drain parts can be simply disinfected and reconnected to restart the nephrostomy drainage.
